The city Auma is located on the river of the same name, Auma, a tributary of the Weida and thus the White Elster in the Thuringian Vogtland. Auma is located roughly in the middle between the sub-centers Weida and Schleiz. In 2006 the city celebrated its 675th anniversary.

getting there

Auma is on the B 2 from Gera to Schleiz. The A 9 runs west of the city with the exits Triptis (for the approach from Berlin) and Dittersdorf (for the journey from the direction of Munich). The closest train connection is in Triptis.

mobility

Auma with its only 2400 inhabitants can be crossed quickly on foot.

Tourist Attractions

At the Marketplace, which appears quite unexpectedly on the west side when driving on the B2 through the city, the main sights: Immediately in front on the left the Old Town Hall (newly built 1790), on the left on the other side of the street the New Town Hall (1907/08) in the front center of the market square is a Saxon post-mile column and in the far back the Franz-Kolbe-Regelschule (1900).

  • Triptis (4 km north-west) - on the eastern edge of the Orlasenke and directly on the A 9, a small town; preserved keep of Triptis Castle.
  • Zeulenroda shoot (9 km southeast) - located at the dam of the same name; classical town hall and water park “Waikiki”. In the district of Triebes: Winkelmann's house, built in block construction.
  • Weida (16 km northeast, via Staitz) - with the Osterburg and the ruins of the Widenkirche, which are well worth seeing. The disused steel bridge on the railway line to Hof is a technical marvel. On the way to Weida view of the Weidatalsperre south of Staitz.
  • Schleiz (17 km south, B 2) - "Schleizer Dreieck" car racing track, former residence of the Russian Schleizer line.
