Bad Bellingen is a health resort in Markgräflerland, located between the Rhine, vineyards and the Black Forest
background
Bellingen was first used in 1006 as a Bellikon mentioned in a document. From 1418 to 1805 the place belonged to Upper Austria, after which it came to the Grand Duchy of Baden. In 1956, during test drilling for crude oil, thermal water of 36 ° C was encountered. With this, the first spa treatments were carried out, and in the absence of tub baths, wine vats were used. There are now four springs from which thermal water gushes, and because of its healing properties, Bellingen has been able to claim the title since 1969 bath decorate. In 1975 the formerly independent places Bamlach, Hertingen and Rheinweiler were incorporated.
Bad Bellingen is in the immediate vicinity of the Rhine. Neighboring communities are on the German side Neuchâtel, Schliengen, Kandern and Efringen churches, on the French side of the Rhine are the places Petit-Landau and Niffer.
