no tourist info on Wikidata: Add tourist information

Bad Frankenhausen is on Kyffhauser, in the valley of the Kleine Wipper. Bad Frankenhausen is said to have got its name from the Franks who built a castle here in 528 to protect the salt water springs from the Saxons. At Bad Frankenhausen, on May 15, 1525, the rebellious farmers under Thomas Münzer were defeated by the Saxon, Brunswick and Hessian troops on the so-called battle hill.

getting there

Bad Frankenhausen lies at the intersection of the B 85 from Berga (junction of the A 38) Weimar and the highway from Artern to Sondershausen. The next motorway exits are the exits Heroics or Artern from the A 71 Sangerhausen-Erfurt (about 15 km each) or Berga from the A 38 Halle-Göttingen (just under 20 km).

Bad Frankenhausen no longer has a rail connection. The nearest train stations with bus connections are Artern on the Erfurt-Sangerhausen route and Sondershausen on the Erfurt-Nordhausen route. The station Heroics would be a little closer, but has no bus connection. The next long-distance traffic stop is Erfurt Hbf.

On weekdays there is a bus at least every hour from the direction of Artern or Sondershausen. Bus traffic is thinned out accordingly on Saturdays and Sundays.

The place can be accessed via the Unstrut-Werra cycle path can be achieved.
