The spa town Bad Tennstedt lies in the Thuringian Basin. In 2005, a Kneipp facility was created in a natural stream, in which one can kneipp all year round. In 2006 a sulphurous water Kneipp facility was added.

Bad Tennstedt is on the connecting road that Bad Langensalza With Sömmerda connects (formerly B 176, stepped down to the state road) From direction Erfurt (A 71) you use the B 4, which has been expanded into a four-lane road as far as Andisleben, and branches off after Gebesee to Schwerstedt. The closest motorway exit is Erfurt-Gispersleben on the A 71.

The local rail transport on the Döllstädt – Straußfurt railway line was discontinued in 1998. The next train stations are now in Straussfurt on the Nordhausen-Erfurt railway and in Döllstädt on the Erfurt – Bad Langensalza railway line.

Osthöfer Gate

This is located at the Kurpark "House of the Guest" with Goethe and Novalis rooms, the library and the city information center. If you follow Kurstraße towards the city center, you will first pass the war memorial with Landser and then to Osthöfer Gate. On the north side of the Town hall a fountain figure: a lion as a shield holder. The figure comes from the former market fountain, which was last renovated in 1817, but then removed.
