- Hautes Fagnes state nature reserve –
- 1 Gileppe dam lake –
Built between 1867 and 1875, this gravity dam is the second concrete dam built in Europe and one of its oldest artificial lakes. Coupled with the Vesdre dam, it supplies drinking water to the same regions as this one. Her height is 68 meters away and its crest length is 2,500 meters. The water turbines produce the electricity needed for the dam complex and the excess is sold to the public distribution network. On the left, in the downstream direction, is built a panoramic tower of 77.6 meters high with restaurant at the top as well as, a little further downstream at the level of the end of the car park, a belvedere. In the middle of the ridge road is erected the “Lion of Gileppe”, a monumental lion in soft sandstone of 13.5 meters tall and weighing 300 tons which fixes the old Prussian border, distant about 5 kilometers at the time of the construction of the dam. For the record, the 183 blocks that make up this lion-puzzle were completely dismantled and reassembled when the dam was raised by 10 meters between 1967 and 1971. The lake, with an area of 130 hectares, does not authorize, apart from fishing, any nautical or aquatic activity.
- 2 St. Paul's Church Church Street –
(1 step at the entrance). The church has a twisted steeple built around 1545 on a tower of the XIIe century.
