  • 1 Richelsley Rock (Richel ley) Logo indicating a wikipedia linkLogo indicating a link to the wikidata element – Access limited to people with reduced mobility. This imposing structure of Quarreux pudding formed over 400 million years ago 80 meters long and 12 meters from above. The unusual presence here at 560 meters above sea level of the highest rock in Benelux comes from the fact that if the other surrounding rocks were completely eroded over the millennia, it is thanks to the succession of periods of frost and thaw that this large isolated block found its way from the depths of the earth to finally rise to the area. This rock received its name in XIIe century of Richwin, the founder of Richwinstein Castle, currently Reichenstein monastery. At its summit, firmly anchored, sits a large, heavy and massive cross of 6 meters tall and about 1.4 tons. Called Kreuz im Venn ("Croix en Fagnes"), it is accessed via a staircase of 31 steps and was erected in 1890 by the abbot of Kalterherberg, Gérard Joseph Arnoldy to honor the memory of Stephan Horrichem (1639-1686), prior of the Reichenstein monastery and architect of its reconstruction. In a crevice of the northeast face of the rock is nested a Virgin representing Our Lady of Lourdes and installed in 1894 by the parishioners of Kalterherberg.

The other two terminals of the triangulation are located one, at 263.8 meters altitude, on the "Lousberg" north ofAachen and the other, at 697 meters altitude, on the "Schwarzer Mann" north-west of Prüm.

It was in 1354 that Renard de Waimes, hence the name "Reinhardstein" meaning "rock of Renard", began construction of the castle in shale while building on certain Celtic foundations and incorporating elements of earlier Roman and Carolingian fortresses. After 1812, the castle was abandoned and ended up being sold to a building materials contractor who began to dismantle the castle and resell the stones until 1815 when, having become Prussian territory, a first restoration campaign was undertaken. After a new period of abandonment, the ruins of the castle were bought in 1965 by an enlightened amateur, the Brussels professor Jean Overloop, who died in 1994 and whose body rests in the crypt of the castle chapel. After carrying out, in 18 months, an intelligent reconstruction, based on the old engravings of the XVIIIe century and an in-depth study in other castles of the same type in Eifel, he also refurnished the burg from his private collection and even made sure that it was accessible to visitors from 1970. In addition to the guided tour, many activities are organized in the Reinhardstein estate and, every second Saturday of the month at 18 h, a sung mass is celebrated in the castle chapel.
