The Bajío (term Spanish translatable with Italian lowland) is a region that includes the plain south of the Sierra of Guanajuato, in the center of Mexico.
Culture and traditions
The Bajío is also famous for being one of the most conservative "bastions" of Catholicism in Mexico.

Aguascalientes - In the central area of the country and characterized by a recent growth of the industrial sector.
Guanajuato - One of the first territories colonized by the Spaniards attracted by the rich silver mines still very active today.
San Luis Potosí - Territory mainly spread over a plateau.
Zacatecas - Mountain area rich in extractive mines.
Urban centers
- Aguascalientes - ..although the thermal water is not that hot. On the banks of the homonymous river at almost 2000 m a.s.l.
- Dolores Hidalgo - Center for the art of ceramics.
- Guanajuato - Capital of the homonymous state of Mexico at almost 2000 m above sea level.
- Leon - One of the Latin American cities with the best average standard of living.
- Real de Catorce - Separated from the "rest of the world" by a 2.3 kilometer long tunnel!
- San Francisco del Rincon - Small town 15 minutes from León.
- San Luis Potosí - Capital of the Mexican state of the same name.
- San Miguel de Allende - Expensive but charming. Heritage ofUNESCO.
- Santiago de Querétaro - Its monumental area is a heritage ofUNESCO.
- Zacatecas - High-altitude city with a great charm as well as being a site UNESCO.
