Balatonkenese is a small summer resort, spa, tourist destination in central Transdanubia in Hungary.

Balatonkenese is located along the northeastern shore of Lake Balaton on a plain and gentle hills. Balatonalmádi there are only 7, Veszprém 10, Balatonfüred 13, Siófok 14, Keszthely 65, Budapest 93 kilometers by air.

History

The first Greek mention of Kenese took place in 990, earlier various peoples lived there. Since the founding of the Kingdom of Hungary this area has been an ecclesiastical estate. The Catholic Church was built in 1231. A harbor was built in 1846, then shipbuilding began, along the shore holiday cottages were built. Balatonkenese acquired city rights in 2009.
