Benque Viejo del Carmen is a city in Belize in the Cayo District.
background
The place was founded in the 19th century and is the most westerly place in Belize. As a rule, this is a place that tourists only cross to get to the border as quickly as possible. But whoever makes a stop here will be surprised what this village can offer. A visit is particularly worthwhile for the annual Benque Viejo del Carmen Fiesta, which takes place in July.
