Bergheim is a community in Flachgau and borders the Mozart and festival city in the immediate vicinity Salzburg. The village advertises itself with the character of a village and with the cultural offerings of the nearby city of Salzburg.

Bergheim is a neighboring municipality in the north of the city Salzburg; traditionally it is dominated by agriculture. In the 20th century, an important industrial area was created. In terms of tourism, the place benefits from its close proximity to Salzburg, especially since the place is still in the closest catchment area for public transport in the city. The most important sight is the regionally well-known pilgrimage church Maria Plain.

Salzburg Airport W.A. Mozart: There are flight connections from some cities in the German-speaking area and other intra-European connections. Bergheim can be reached in around 15 minutes by taxi.

By train

For the route Salzburg main station–Bergheim S-Bahn is a 7-minute ride on the Salzburg Local Railway (S1); Connection every half hour, on working days Mon – Fri 3:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. towards Bergheim every quarter of an hour. With the Salzburg bus tickets it is also possible to change from / to the train; Advance ticket price: EUR 1.80 (as of September 2015). Tickets are also available from the train conductor.

Local public transport in Bergheim is operated by Salzburg AG with bus line 21. This runs directly through the center of the village from Bergheim train station to downtown Salzburg. Bergheim train station can also be reached with the local train (S1) directly from Salzburg main station. Voggenberg can be reached with the SSV (Salzburg Transport Association) line 110 from Bergheim local train station out.

The village character has been preserved in Bergheim: here people still meet at the butcher, baker, grocer or in the inns.

Churches

  • Parish Church of St. George. The originally Gothic church (first mentioned in a document in 927) was rebuilt in the late 17th century by Mathias Köllensperger in the early Baroque style. The arrangement and shape of the windows, which enable uniform illumination, is characteristic of this era.   • Pilgrimage Basilica Maria Plain. The legend of this place of pilgrimage has its roots in a miraculous image of Mary with the baby Jesus, which now adorns the high altar. This picture was miraculously spared during the fire in the city of Regen (Lower Bavaria) during the Thirty Years War. After the image of the Virgin was brought to Salzburg, Archbishop Guidobald Thun ordered the construction of a chapel in 1652. The basilica, built by Prince Archbishop Max Gandolf von Khuenburg in 1674, is not only a landmark of Bergheim and a popular excursion destination, but offers the visitor a unique panorama over Salzburg to the Alps.Open: Church services: Monday - Sunday 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., Saturday also 3:00 p.m. Rosary, Sunday 9:00 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. (Stand 2013).

There is no night club in Bergheim. The proximity to the city of Salzburg is used for this, especially on Rudolfskai, in Imbergstrasse and Gstättengasse, with the right bar for every taste. However, after work in Bergheim, people meet in the Mahlwerk or in the Dorfstüberl. Events take place regularly in both restaurants, where you can party until the early hours of the morning.
