Brighton is a city in the Greater Rochester-Area in Western New York.

The town, which has been populated by whites since around 1790 and named after a town in England, was officially declared a town in 1814. After the residents had lived from agriculture and brick-making until the 20th century, Brighton experienced a certain industrialization afterwards, but also became a residential area for people who had made Rochester prosperous.
