Bryansk (Russian: Брянск) is the capital of Bryansk Oblast, it is located on the Desna River and consists of the districts of Beschizki, Fokinski, Sowetski and Volodarski.

The city was founded around 985 as a mission post. In the 13th century it was an independent principality and a bishopric. In 1356 it became Lithuanian, in 1503 it came to the Moscow Empire. The city developed into a fortress and trading city. Under Tsar Peter I, the first shipyard for building the Black Sea Fleet was built in Bryansk. In the 19th century iron works, mechanical engineering and textile factories were built. After the October Revolution, power plants and other industrial companies were added. The city was badly damaged during World War II. It was rebuilt after the war. Bryansk has developed into an important industrial location. Electronic parts, turbines and locomotives are produced. The Company BAZ (Bryansk Automobile Plant) manufactures a wide range of commercial vehicles as well as military equipment.

- 1 Svensky Monastery (Свенский монастырь, Orthodox monastery). The monastery is located at the confluence of the Desna and Swin rivers. Originally it was named after the river "Swin". The word "swinsky" is not very suitable, however, so that it is better to use swensky = Swedish.
- 2 Old Intercession Cathedral (Покровский собор (Брянск), Старо-Покровский собор). Built in 1698 on the site of an older wooden church mentioned in documents from 1603. #.
- 3 Church of the Savior in Grobovskaya (Спасо-Гробовская церковь, Church of the Redeemer, Спасо-Гробовская церковь). The Art Nouveau church was built in 1904.
- 4 Church of the Entry of the Theotokos into the Temple in Bryansk (Храм Введения Пресвятой Богородицы (Петропавловский монастырь, Брянск)). The only surviving monument to the Peter and Paul Monastery, which, according to legend, was founded in the second half of the 13th century by Prince Oleg Romanovich of Bryansk.
- 5 Tolstoy Park (Парк-музей имени А. К. Толстого, Парк-музей им. А. К. Толстогo, Park Museum). There are several dozen wooden sculptures in the park, including a wooden fountain and a carved wooden stele that were erected on the 40th anniversary of Victory. Of course there is also the bust of Tolstoy.
- 6 Kurgan Bessmertiya (Курган Бессмертия (Брянск), Hill of immortality), ЦПКиО имени 1000-летия Брянска (роща «Соловьи»). Central Park for Culture and Leisure, named after the 1000th anniversary of Bryansk (Grove "Nightingales"). Monument to those who fell in the Great Patriotic War, which has become one of the symbols of the city of Bryansk. It's an earthen dam in the shape of a 12-meter-high pentahedral hill topped by an 18-meter-high structure that folds into a five-pointed star on each side.
- 7 Partisan Square (Площадь Партизан, Monument to the Liberators of Bryansk, пл. Партизанпл.). Erected in 1966, it later became one of the city's unofficial symbols. In appearance (stele plus sculptural groups) and location (in alignment with one of the main streets of the city) it is very reminiscent of the monument on Victory Square in St. Petersburg, but was built 10 years earlier.
