With a height of 168 m is the Bungsberg the highest elevation of the Holstein Switzerland. The hill country bears the title "highest mountain range Schleswig-Holstein".
The new nature experience center and a new restaurant are located on the radio tower with a viewing platform.
background
In the last ice age the elevation was an icebreaker. The ice masses divided here and created z. B. the Holstein Lake District, which is southwest of the mountain. Today's hilly landscape around the mountain was also formed by the ice.

Tourist Attractions
- 1 Television tower with viewing platform - in 1977 the Federal Post Office put the television tower into operation. This has a viewing platform at a height of 200 m above sea level. The platform is currently free of charge and offers a fantastic view over Holstein Switzerland to Fehmarn when the weather permits. When visibility is very good, the view extends over the Bay of Kiel to the Danish islands of Ærø, Langeland and Lolland and across the Bay of Lübeck towards the Baltic coast of Mecklenburg with the mountain range cooling.
- Mountain peaks with a view - The "summit" of the Bungsberg is a rather inconspicuous grass hill on a cattle pasture. The measuring point is on the hill that is accessible. On a clear day the view extends to the Baltic Sea.
- Excursion gastronomy Currently a kiosk with snacks and refreshments.
- Schwentine spring The most varied river in Schleswig-Holstein has its source here. About the Holstein Lake District and Preetz he reaches the Baltic Sea at Kiel.
- Elisabeth Tower - The observation tower was built in 1681. In 1864 the building was raised by 4 m to a height of 22 m. The building is now dilapidated and can therefore not be climbed. This makes no sense anyway, since the tower has grown in and no longer offers a panoramic view.
- Transmission mast - In 1961, a.o. a 231 m high transmission mast was erected in the area of the Bungsberg for radio reception. This has meanwhile been replaced by a new mast with DVB-T antennas for digital antenna television.
Winter sports
- Ski lift: The only ski lift in Schleswig-Holstein is located on the Bungsberg. This may be in operation on the rare snowy days. please refer: www.ski-bungsberg.de
