Bélapátfalva is a small town, yet a tourist destination in the northern part of Hungary.

Bélapátfalva is located in the Bükk Mountains. Szilvásvárad found 7, Eger 17, Miskolc 33, Budapest 116 kilometers (by air).
History
An abbey and church were founded on that site in 1232, later also a village having the place name Apát faluja (= village of an abbot). The Tatar invasion (1241) interrupted construction. During Turkish domination the abbey was abandoned and ecclesiastical domination of Protestants took place. Catholicism returned and regained everything in 1678. Soon a number of industrial factories came into operation, the village became a village. Between 1910-1980 a cement factory operated. Bélapátfalva acquired city rights in 2004.
