Bönen is a city in a circle Unna on the eastern edge of the Ruhr area.

Bönen was first mentioned in the records around 1032, when it was still a settlement of peasant communities. Today the place has over 18,000 inhabitants and consists of the districts Altenbögge-Bönen, Bramey-Lenningsen, Flierich, Nordbögge, Oster- and Westerbönen.

The nearest airport is in Dortmund Airport(IATA: DTM) about 20km away.
By train
At the Bönen station hold the regional express RE7 and RE13 at least every hour and offset by about 1 / 2h. Nordbögge has its own train station, which the RE3 and the RE11 also start every hour. The bus routes C91, C95 and 191 are the connections between the two train stations (3km).
The next ICE stop is in Hamm.

In the street
The A2 motorway runs north of Bönen, exit 17 "Bönen" leads into town either from the north or from the west. To the west is the Kamener Kreuz between the A2 and the A1.

- Protestant Old churchwhose predecessor was built at the beginning of the 8th century. was created. The tower dates from the 12th century, served as a defense tower in the Middle Ages and is the oldest building in the village. The nave dates from 1846.
- Headframe the disused Koenigsborn III / IV colliery with the light installation "Yellow marker" as East pole of the Ruhr area and part of the Hellweg a light path.
