Book - Bük

Bük is a small town and thermal baths in western Transdanubia in Hungary.

Bük is located on a plain. Kőszeg is 15, Szombathely 19, Vienna 96, Budapest 173 kilometers. Due to proximity of Austria Austrians often come, so the German language is somewhat familiar.

History

In that place there was already a church probably with a village in the 12th century. The village has remained simple throughout history, some good changes have taken place due to the arrival of the railway line and construction of a sugar mill. In 1957 a well was drilled to find oil, but hot water appeared. In 1962 a bathhouse was built, after 3 years the water was declared medicinal water. A great development has taken place. Bük in 2007 received city status.

Bük is found in a temperate, continental climate, like full Hungary, however in the western part it rains more often.

Bük is well accessible by road also from Austria or Slovakia (however there is no highway), in addition a railway line operates between Sopron-Szombathely.
