Bawit (French: Baouit, Arabic:باويط, Bāwīṭ) is a egyptian Village on the west side of the Nile in the GovernorateAsyūṭ. To the west of the village, already in the desert, are the ruins of the Apa Apollon Monasterywhich is an important early Christian archaeological site.

Bāwīṭ is located about 70 kilometers north of Asyūṭ, 30 kilometers south of Mallawī and 9 kilometers west of Deirūṭ on the edge of the Western Desert. In 2006 there were 9516 inhabitants in the village.[1]
