Ruins of a fortified manor from the 15th century in Bąkowa Góra

The castle is located approx. 7 km from Przedbórz on the way to Lodz. Driving through the village, turn into the road with the signpost "Kalinki 3" and then drive up the hill for about 500 m.

Today, the castle is a picturesque ruin with a few meters thick walls reconstructed in the higher parts. It is privately owned, on the premises of a mini-museum, you can visit it for a fee.

Built on a hill 282 m above sea level. a brick castle, or rather a defensive manor house, was probably built as the seat of Zbigniew Bąk, the Zador coat of arms, son of Zbigniew Bąk senior, one of the most trusted courtiers of King Władysław Jagiełło. It was built in the mid-15th century on the root of an older, wooden complex. It is situated on the promontory of the hill, inside a circumferential embankment. Built of sandstone, with dimensions of approx. 32 x 14 m, it had two avant-corps, the eastern of which was the entrance to the castle. The building may have had three floors, and certainly two. Perhaps one of the breaks was higher and served as a tower.

After Zbigniew's death in 1489, the building was handed over to his son-in-law. In the 16th century, it was owned by the Małachowski family, who slightly rebuilt and renovated it - as evidenced by fragments of decorative plaster and modest window decorations. Later, the manor changed owners many times, and at the beginning of the 18th century, its last inhabitants decided to move out. Probably the reason for leaving the manor house was too thick walls and small window openings, which limited the access of sunlight to its interior, so that it was constantly dark and cold. In the 1920s, the Potocki family - then the owners tried to find the castle dungeons, to no avail, but the condition of the already ruined building worsened. In the 1980s, archaeological research was carried out, combined with debris removal and weeding. Currently it is in private hands.

In a short distance there is a manor house from the second half of the 19th century. Eighteenth century built by the Małachowski family, nearby owners Majkowice. A one-story building, covered with a broken shingled roof, entrance through a columned portico with an interesting baroque gable. Inside, we can see fragments of architectural elements and sculptures from the manor house in Majkowice. Both buildings are surrounded by an old park with specimens of monumental trees.

From the slopes of the hill we can see a wonderful panorama of the valley Pilica and hills of the Przedborsko-Małogoski Range.

Going down the hill, we pass the brick church. st. Trinity Church, built in the 15th century, rebuilt in the 17th century with interesting furnishings.

Within the town of Bąkowa Góra there is "Jawora" nature reserve.
