To get

There is a ferry from Italy or Spain (from Barcelona for example) to travel to the island.

To go by plane there are 3 airports on the island: in Olbia, Cagliari and Fertilia (Alghero). At least these last two have low-cost lines such as Ryanair.

All of them are close to the cities (about 15 min by bus) and transport to them is quite cheap.

Travel

Although the most recommended way to travel around the island is undoubtedly the car, there are public transport with a fairly regular schedule, either by bus or train. The latter (the train) is the most recommended due to the exaggerated delay of the bus as a result of the stopovers in its trips. Another advantage is the price of the ticket, being quite cheap.

There is also a tourist train in the north of the island that offers the traveler the possibility of making a highly recommended tourist route.

Despite the fact that there are many curved roads, those that connect the main towns are endless straight lines and flat ones on which to circulate calmly, although they are mostly national roads with one lane in each direction. For this reason, if we are going to rent a car, it will not be necessary a large cylinder one. In fact, most of the cars that populate the island are Fiat Panda (both the current and the old model!)

Watch

Without a doubt, the island's beaches are spectacular on any of its coasts, with greenish and transparent waters with nothing to envy to the Caribbean ones.

On the other hand, it is not yet as highly saturated as the Spanish Levante.

The island has a multitude of archaeological remains from past cultures. From Roman sites (Nora and San Giovanni), Aragonese towers, Punic remains and a multitude of pre-Romanesque remains such as megalithic towers called nuraghis.

Many towns preserve a beautiful historic center, even walled like Alghero or Castelsardo, as well as beautiful buildings in Cagliari, which gives the impression of being in a European stately city due to its buildings worthy of any capital.

Except for Cagliari, the rest of the island's cities are small towns that can be visited in a short time

To buy

Despite being a tourist area, prices do not skyrocket in supermarkets, clothing and hospitality as is the case in most Spanish tourist areas.

To eat

As in any part of the Italian peninsula, every restaurant specializes in pizza and pasta, as well as you can find excellent ice cream on any corner.

Talk

The official language of the island is Italian, and you can communicate perfectly with anyone if you speak slowly.

Sardinian is spoken by the natives of the island, even in greater proportion than Italian, although this is not studied in schools.

In the northwestern area (Alghero) a variant of Catalan is spoken, the result of past conquests.
