Chaidari (or Haidari, Χαϊδάρι in Greek) is a western district of the city of Athens.
To know
Chaidari is a residential district, mostly inhabited by the small-medium bourgeoisie. An article is dedicated to him solely because in its territory there is the small monastery of Dafni which was declared by theUNESCO, "World Heritage".
Chaidari is an uninteresting residential suburb of Athens but perhaps the least "ugly" of the gods western districts of the city and in addition it has some simple hotels that can be considered by those who have opted for budget holidays. Again it must be said that the area suffers from some pollution (but less than in the center) due to both its proximity to the industrial area of Eleusis, and the intense car traffic on Viale Athinòn, an urban section of the motorway for Corinth ending in the district of Omonia.

Chaidari is 10 km from the center. In 2008 it was joined by the blue line of the metro that comes from the airport passing through Syntagma. Bus 812 connects Haidari directly with nearby Koumoundourou square Omonia.

- 4 Sanctuary of Aphrodite, Agiou Antoniou 8, Skaramagkas (1.5 km after the Daphni Monastery on the right.). Of this sanctuary the votive niches are easily visible where ex-votos were left for the goddess. The sanctuary which probably dates back to the 4th century BC. it was one of the stops along the sacred road that led to Eleusis.

What to do
Having an exclusively residential character, the recreational activities of Chaidari are practically nil except for a few restaurants or patisseries with outdoor tables where you can spend some time. Chaidari is also quite far from the waterfront districts which, with their beaches and nightclubs, offer satisfying leisure opportunities.
- 1 Koumoundourou lake (Rheitoi lake). This brackish lake is sandwiched between a military base to the east and the industrial and port complex towards the sea. For a long time polluted, today it is protected. It was once a mandatory passage to Eleusis. The current road that runs through it separating it from the sea follows the ancient route.
