Curtea de Argeș is a city of Romania, located in the historical region of Muntenia.
To know
Curtea de Argeș was the first capital of the principality of Wallachia and preserves the most important Byzantine buildings of the Romania, including the Princely Church, a 14th-century monument on the UNESCO list of nominations.
An important political and economic center during the medieval era, Curtea de Argeș declined after the transfer of the residence of the voivada of Wallachia to Târgoviște.
Curtea de Argeș regained a certain prestige in the period between the two world wars with the designation of the monastery's cathedral as a royal necropolis.
The city is the starting point of the famous Transfăgărășan scenic road which climbs the Southern Carpathians ending at Sibiu, on the plateau of Transylvania

- 7 [link not working]Olari Church (Biserica Adormirea Maicii Domnului - Olari). Modest brick church with a rustic look, characterized by original architectural elements. The style differs in fact from Wallachian architecture and is more reminiscent of the Moldovan one of the time of Stephen the Great. Like all Byzantine architecture, the small temple surprises for the harmony of its proportions but also for the tiled roof, the frescoes on the facade and the external wooden staircase decorated with aquilw that leads to the top of the bell tower.
- 8 Batușari Church (Biserica Bătușari). Built in 1583 by the Prince of Wallachia Petru Cercel (1583-1585), the church is a modest rectangular monument with a wooden bell tower. The church was built with river stones and bricks and covered with slate. It belonged to the guild of the "batușari", Saxons of origin, and was completely restored at the end of the nineteenth century, losing its original appearance and frescoes.
