Cusset is a town located in the department ofCombine, in the region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, in France.
Understand
The Cussetois (or Cussétois) numbered 12,757 at the last census in 2016; it's the 5e commune of the department in number of inhabitants. Bordering Vichy, it has had a rich medieval history, with many remains, some of which are classified as historical monuments, mainly concentrated in the city center.
The northern part of the municipality is the industrial zone. The sectors located to the east are rural districts (Viermeux, Chassignol), at a high altitude (up to 480 m aux Acarins towards Châtel-Montagne) and foreshadow the Bourbonnaise mountain.

From Paris, there are two possible solutions:
- by the highway A77 to Nevers then the national road 7 to Varennes-sur-Allier, the RN 209 then the RD 2209;
- by highways A71 and A719, then RD 2209 to Vichy or RD 6 from Bellerive-sur-Allier then RD 6E.
From Lyon:
- highway A89 to Thiers then exit 29 and RD 906 and RD 126 via Côte Saint-Amand (except heavy goods vehicles) or via Boulevard de l'Hôpital and take rue de Bordeaux to the right of a zone 30 crossed;
- via Roanne, highway A89 to Balbigny, exit 33, national roads 82 and 7 to Lapalisse, RD 907 (possibility of catching the RD 906B in Guittons via the RD 690 and 490)
From Clermont-Ferrand:
By train
- Vichy station Place de la Gare, 03200 Vichy (from the city center, take the D 2209 and follow the direction "VICHY-CENTER" indicated on panels with a green background) – Near Cusset, this station is the 2e d'Auvergne and serves the agglomeration. Taxis at the bus station south of the train station, all destinations including Cusset.

By car
Since 2011 and 2016, the traffic conditions have changed slightly. Traffic plans often require you to take a detour, the municipality's need being to create new cycling facilities.
Speed is generally limited to 50 km / h on the main axes, except on the departmental roads leading to the Bourbonnaise mountain from the exit sign.
There are 30 zones at school law, on part of Cours Tracy and Cours Arloing, on rue Liandon, on Passage du Quercy and boulevard du 8 Mai 1945.
There is even a meeting zone in part of the city center: the speed is limited to 20 km / h and pedestrians and cyclists have priority. The perimeter is however vague because the municipality has not deployed all the panels.
At the border between Vichy and Cusset, a new road was opened in 2013. This is the urban boulevard (avenue de la Liberté): it connects the public high schools to the Jacques Lacarin Hospital Center over more than a kilometer, doubled by cycling facilities. The plantations are placed randomly, that is, they are not aligned with the road. The benches, although new, are however vandalized and lack maintenance.
Parking lots
All parking lots are free. Since November 2013, those in the city center require the affixing of a parking disc, to be requested at the town hall during opening hours if necessary. Access to the city center car parks is via Boulevard du Général-de-Gaulle, following the signs "P150 spaces downtown parking ».

These car parks are accessible with a parking disc; the control period runs from Monday to Friday from 9 h - 12 h and14 h - 17 h Where 18 h, for a maximum parking time of 1 h 30.

- Line H serves the Champcourt and Meunière districts. Circulation during school periods only.

- direction Vichy - Cusset: from the Vichy SNCF station, avenue de Gramont, rue de l'Imprimerie, boulevard Denière, left towards avenue de la République, then in Cusset at the intersection with avenue de la Liberté (urban boulevard), avenue du Général Leclerc, boulevard Gabriel-Péronnet, rue Fernand-Lafaye and Anne-Marie Menut-Lafaye, rue de Doyat, rue du Pont-de-la-Mère, place Louis-Blanc, on the right, rue du 29-Juillet , right, place Victor-Hugo, right towards rue Wilson, left towards rue Liandon, left towards cours Lafayette, right towards rue de la Barge via the D 995, then the route de Ferrières towards Mayet -of Mountain ;

Cycling facilities are quite numerous, but bicycle parking spaces are rare. These are installed on the renovated courtyards (9 places on cours Tracy, 6 on cours Arloing) and in the city center (only 6 places square René-Bardet and 6 in front of the town hall ...), without forgetting that of Cusset Center (7 places, created in 2018 near the terminus of line A).
A bicycle station is located near the Cusset Center bus stop (4 bikes, possible use via a mobile application).

The buildings marking the medieval history of Cusset are located mainly in the city center.

Lessons
From 2012 to 2014, the city of Cusset highlighted the Tracy and Arloing courses.
- 5 Course Tracy – The redevelopment of the course in 2012, with the felling of the plane trees in degraded phytosanitary state, allows an opening and a new comfort. The parking lot is modified, lengthwise on the course. Benches are located along the tracks. A cycle path runs along the D 906 roadB.
- 6 Arloing course – As an extension of Cours Tracy, Cours Arloing also benefits from a walk between Allée Pierre Berthomier and the departmental road. The cycle path is extended but comes up against a new path.
- 7 Lafayette Course – The course is awaiting renovation.

If Vichy is the main place of study of the French language with CAVILAM, Cusset is the place where high schools are located. Apart from a private high school, which only offers general courses, two others belonging to the Albert-Londres campus offer vocational and post-bac training (understand by "after obtaining the baccalaureate"):

- Le Vernet (follow Le Vernet by D 175 from the city center, at 3,5 km or by D 126 and D 259 via avenue du Général Leclerc, at 4,5 km) – Sitting high at close to 400 m altitude, the town offers a panorama of the site of the Hurlevents to the south of the agglomeration of Vichy, with an orientation table (replaced to date?)
- Abrest (To 4,5 km by D 126 and D 259) – Town straddling two shores.
- Saint-Yorre (To 9 km by D 126, D 259 and D 906e) – Mineral springs and redeveloped town center.
- Busset (follow Le Vernet by D 175 from the city center, at 13 km) – At the south-eastern limit of the agglomeration, the town, located 500 m of altitude, unlike Vernet, does not offer a notable panorama. On the other hand, it is possible to visit the castle.
- Bourbonnaise mountain – The departmental roads east of Cusset are the gateways to this natural region which dominates the department by its altitude.
- The Lodge of the Guards (To 44 km by the D 62 via Molles and Le Mayet-de-Montagne) – One of the few ski resorts in the Allier.
