Ed-Deir el-Bahri or ed-Deir el-Bahari (Arabic:الدير البحري, ad-Dair al-Baḥrī, „the northern monastery“, In dialect id-Dēr il-Baḥarī spoken) is an ancient Egyptian cemetery on the Nile west side of Luxor at the foot of a steep slope north of the official graves of esch-Sheikh ʿAbd el-Qurna and west of the ancient Egyptian cemetery of el-ʿAsāsīf. There are three mortuary temples here, the most important of which is that of Queen Hatshepsut. Several graves of members of the royal family and high-ranking officials were dug in the area of these temples.

getting there
One arrives about 3 miles from the ferry dock on the west bank 1 crossing(25 ° 43 '23 "N.32 ° 36 '18 "E) South from Qurnat Muraʿī. At the western end both tickets for the Hatshepsut temple and for tombs in el-ʿAsāsīf are sold.

The Hatshepsut Temple is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The admission price is LE 140 and for students LE 70 (as of 11/2019), small train for outward and return journeys LE 6 (as of 11/2018).

There is a small restaurant in the area of Sheikh ʿAbd el-Qurna about 100 meters east of the Ramesseums, more in Gazīrat el-Baʿīrāt and Gazīrat er-Ramla as in Luxor. In the area of the parking lot there are also providers of drinks between the souvenir stands. But they are a bit more expensive.

The visit to Deir el-Baḥrī can be combined with a visit to the tombs in el-ʿAsāsīf connect, as the area is immediately southeast of this and the tickets are sold in the same place.
