• 48.951737.151971 St. Gallen Church School street,   33 3 88 004039, e-mail : [email protected] – The fortified church of Domfessel (XIV^e century) is one of the jewels of Alsatian Gothic art. It was most likely built by Henri, illegitimate son of the Earl of Sarrewerden. Initially Catholic, it became a Protestant church at the time of the Reformation in XVI^e century. Its surrounding wall (still visible but which is no longer at its original height) and its fortified tower bear witness to the defensive function of the building in the Middle Ages. Over the centuries, few transformations have been carried out on the church, which gives it a very homogeneous appearance. The tower contains a watchman's room, which is accessed from inside the church. Free tours all year round, occasional guided tours in summer on telephone request for groups. (last update Feb. 2018)
