The village is located 4 km south of Stream city over the rivers Vistula and Knajka (in the western part of the village council). The area of the village council is 1466 ha, and 2,109 people live there, so the population density is 144 people / km².
In the years 1975-1998, the town was located in the then Bielskie Province.
The village was first mentioned in 1452.
During the Reformation, a significant part of the inhabitants converted to Lutheranism (Evangelical-Augsburg religion).
According to the Austrian census of 1900, 1,207 people lived in 165 buildings in Drogomyśl on the area of 1466 hectares, i.e. the population density was 97.3 people / km². 565 (39.6%) of the inhabitants were Catholics, 846 (59.3%) Protestants and 16 (1.1%) Jews; 1,374 (96.3%) were Polish and 46 (3.2%) were German-speaking.
After World War I, the town was within the borders Polish.
Historical monuments
According National Heritage Institutethere are the following historic buildings in the village:
- Evangelical Church (2 Kościelny Square), built in the Classicist style from 1788-97. Above the entrance to the temple walls there is a foundation plaque in Latin with the coat of arms of the founders of the church, the Kalisz family. He's standing on the other side of the street
- Palace complex (a palace from the middle of the 18th century, a farm building from the 1st half of the 19th century and a park from the 17th / 19th century)
- Former inn from the second half of the 19th century 18th century.

A magnificent English elm.
Other facilities
The contemporary Catholic Church of Dobrego Pasterza from 1966-1969 (Plac Dobrego Pasterza), built according to a design by Zbigniew Weber, with an extremely original architecture.
