The Egge Mountains located in North Rhine-Westphalia. The wooded low mountain range limits this Münsterland to the east. The well-known Externsteine ​​are located in the mountains.

A long-distance train station in the Egge Mountains is Altenbeken. At the edges of the ridge are Warburg (Westf) on the east side and Paderborn on the west side.

The A 44 Dortmund – Kassel motorway runs along the southern edge of the Eggegebirge (Diemelstadt and Marsberg junctions). The federal road B 1 Paderborn – Hameln leads to the northern end, in the middle it is cut by the B 64 Paderborn – Höxter.

  • 1 Prussian Velmerstot with the harrow tower. Highest mountain in the range (468 m) with a lookout tower. Also worth seeing is the Lippe Velmerstot with its rocky summit and memorial stone (located about 2 km north of the Eggeturm).
  • Altenbeken Viaduct in Altenbeken. The 482 m long and 35 m high viaduct is the largest sand-lime brick bridge in Europe. The bridge was opened to traffic on July 21, 1853 by King Friedrich Wilhelm IV. The building was destroyed twice during World War II.
  • 1 Game reserve at Willebadessen
  • 2 Lookout tower "Bierbaums Nagel" near Borlinghausen - The tower stands at a height of 431 m on the main ridge of the Egge Mountains. The structure is accessible from Borlinghausen via gravel roads (approx. 3.5 km one way). The tower is freely accessible. On the first floor in the tower you can rest on two benches protected from the rain. Unfortunately, the benches have no backs. Outside in front of the tower are two wooden tables, each with two benches (with armrests). The Eggeweg leads almost directly past the tower (detour of 200 m).
  • 3 Teutonia cliffs 1-2 km north of Bierbaums Nagel on the Eggehauptkamm. The "Klippenweg" hiking trail opens up this small natural attraction
  • 2 1000 year old oak near Borlinghausen - the gnarled tree with a trunk circumference of 11 meters stands approx. 1 km east of the village. The path is signposted from the center of the village.
