Herb orchards it's a ghost city of the Piedmont.
To know
It is located at the top of the Val Sabbiola, lateral of the Valsesia. The country has been partially recovered in recent times, even if there are still no permanent domiciles.
The hamlet, currently made up of about twenty houses, was built around the church, built in 1610.
Background
The second post-war period saw a progressive depopulation of the country. This was due to the difficult living conditions to which he was forced in a territory that had little to offer. The late adaptation to the times, in the most essential services, also contributed in part: the electricity arrived quite early, in 1953, while the seventies had to wait for the sewer network. Already in 1970 the population was reduced to a single permanent inhabitant.
Later there was a limited repopulation, especially for second homes, frequented during the summer holidays and weekends. The new road to the village can be traveled with all-wheel drive vehicles up to Alpe Campo, a pasture still in use above the village. The last stretch to reach the town is under construction.
