Appoint is a Swiss Municipality in the canton Valais.

background

The new municipality of Ernen was created in 2005 from the merger of the municipalities Out of sight, Appoint, Mühlebach and Stone house. It covers almost exclusively the area south of the Rottens between Niederwald and Grenoils.

The village of Ernen received the Henry Louis Wakker Prize in 1979 for its village image.

In the past, Ernen was on the main transit routes, which gave it a certain level of prosperity, as can be seen today in the houses in the village. The main road and railway now lead past the village on the other side of the valley, which was an economic disadvantage for the village, but preserved the old village center.

getting there

Between the train station Fiesch and Ernen there is a Postbus connection, which continues via Ausserbinn to Binn leads.

By car, you can get there via the main road number 19 from Brig-Glis leads to Goms. This must be left between Lax and Fiesch in order to get to Ernen via the connecting road. The road continues via Ausserbinn into the Binntal. This junction is also the only access road for cars to Mühlebach and Steinhaus, i.e. the entire municipality.

The national Velo route 1 Follow the old mule track on this section, so for Ernen on the right, south side of the Rotten.

mobility

Steinhaus is a 20-minute walk from Niederwald VS train station (you have to almost turn around by car via Lax). In general, if you have time, it is recommended to explore the community on foot.
