Scandinavia is a region between the Baltic Sea and the North Sea. It is the largest region in the Europe, with 1.2 million m2, and with 24 million inhabitants, which represents 4% of the continent's population.

The terms Nordic countries and Scandinavia refer to distinct regions of northern Europe. The Nordic countries, in historical, linguistic, anthropological and political terms, are Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, the territories of the Faroe Islands, Svalbard (Spitsbergen), Aland and Greenland. In geographical terms, Scandinavia comprises the peninsula formed by Sweden and Norway only.
