Veracruz state - Estado de Veracruz

State location.

Veracruz by Ignacio de la Llave, generally known as Veracruz, is one of the 31 states that together with the Mexico City make up the 32 federative entities of Mexico. The state is located in the eastern Mexico and borders to the north with Tamaulipas, to the south with Oaxaca Y Chiapas, to the east with the Gulf of mexico, to the west with San Luis Potosi, gentleman Y Puebla and to the southeast with Tabasco.

The State of Veracruz has a total territorial extension of 71 820 km² (that is, it represents 3.7% of the country's surface) and is divided into 212 municipalities, grouped into 10 administrative regions:

San Andres Tuxtla. It is one of the towns with the most flora. It preserves some of the traditions that other places no longer have. It is part of the region of the tuxtlas. It is next to the Mpio. from Catemaco which has a large lagoon.

The full name of the state is Veracruz by Ignacio de la Llave, although generally this name is mentioned only in official names. Its territory is 72,420 km (3.7% of the national territory). Its eastern boundary is the Gulf of Mexico, with a coastline of 710 km in length.

There are transport companies that reach the various destinations in the state (mainly made up of Grupo ADO and Estrella Blanca).

Travel

Some of the most characteristic areas in our visit, which we must not forget to enjoy, we find:

  • The portals. Located next to the Playa Mayor or Plaza de las Armas.
  • The Great Parish Cafe. It is the most famous of the cafes in the area, since even Porfirio Díaz had breakfast there, just before boarding the ship of Ipiranga, which would lead him into exile.
  • The main square. Located in the old historic center, it houses iconic buildings such as the Municipal Palace and the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption.
  • Cathedral. It was built between 1721 and 1734, it has its main entrance on Independencia Avenue.
  • The Fort of San Juan of ulua. Its construction began in 1635, on the islet of the same name that had previously served as a shelter for Spanish ships.
