background
Tabasco is located on the Gulf of Mexico and borders to the east Campeche, in the south Chiapas and in the west Veracruz. For a long time this state was one of the poorest in Mexico. Since large areas of the state consist of marshland, this was also difficult to change. But in the 1970s, oil was discovered here and that changed a lot. This region is the namesake for the Tabasco plant from which the world-famous Tabasco sauce is made.
language
4000 years ago one of the first proven language systems in America developed here with the so-called Mixe-Zoque language.
