La Venta is a ruined city of the Olmecs in the Mexican state Tabasco.

The oldest settlement finds point to 1500 BC. down. But this city only gained importance after the decline of San Lorenzo Tenochtitlan around 900 BC Between 800 BC and 400 BC. this place grew to become the most important center of the region.

Tourist Attractions

  • Complex A. Among other things, five graves and several mosaics with edge lengths of up to 20 meters were found here.
  • Complex B. Here there is a large square surrounded by earthworks.
  • Complex C. One of the oldest pyramids in Central America can be found here. This is 33 meters high and has not been exposed to this day.
