background

Not much is known about these ruins. The little that is known comes from the five steles that were found here. The following historical framework can be derived from this. In the year 565 AD a new king named Falcon Head was born here, who is ascended to the throne at the age of five. A year later his reign is again solemnly confirmed, but here on the protective power Calakmul is referred to. Not tired of partying, 19 years later he was lifted to the throne for the third time. But this time the protecting power is Palenque. In other writings there is much talk of armed conflicts. In the course of this, the city was probably abandoned in the 9th century AD.

The excavations are also known in literature as Reforma II, Reforma, Moral, Morales, Balancán-Morales, and Ruins of Acalán. Today's "landlord", the Instituto Nacional de Antropologia e Historia (INAH) carries out the excavations Zona Arqueológica de Moral - Reforma .
