Archaeological finds indicate a first settlement around 100 BC. Chr. But actually every architectural style can be found in the buildings that was fashionable in Yucatán up to the late Puuc around 1100 AD, so that one can assume a continuous settlement from 100 BC. The ruins were rediscovered for science around 1940. The importance of the city has been researched since 1979 due to the many buildings in different architectural styles.

In the street
Of Mérida (Mexico) From there you take the MEX 178 in an easterly direction and drive via Cansahcab, Temax, Buctzotz and Sucila to Tizimin. From there it goes on the 49th in the direction of Colonia Yucatán (east direction). After approx. 17 km, turn right and you will reach the facility after another 6 km.
Of Cancun drive the MEX 180 in a westward direction and turn right at X-Can in a northward direction. After approx. 15 km turn left and reach the facility after another 7 km.

Around 300 structures have been discovered so far, which are essentially grouped around three main groups:
- Group A. The center of this is a well-preserved five-room building. In principle, this can be assigned to the Chenes style. However, the cladding of the building is unusual for the Chenes style.
- Group B. The buildings here are a colorful mix of Chenes style and Puuc style. Whereby the ornaments definitely have a connection to Chichen Itza can be seen.
- Group C. Several buildings form a square courtyard here. The architecture of the building is similar to that from Mayapán.
