Chacchoben is a city in Quintana Roo in Mexico.

The earliest construction phases go back to around 200 BC. BC back. The last buildings were built around 700 AD. The facility was discovered from the air in 1972 and has been excavated and restored here since 1994. The city has been open to tourists since 2002. The name means something like "Square of the Red Grain".

The access is from Carretera Federal 297 at Lazaro Cardenas (a few km from the junction of Carretera 307 Chetumal - Cancun). From Lazaro Cardenas it is about 5 km to the northwest.

You can see a larger free-standing pyramid and an acropolis with two smaller pyramids. These and many small structures have been very well restored.
