Lagartero is a Mayan ruin in Chiapas in Mexico, located near the border with Guatemala.

The earliest settlement finds lead to the 3rd century. AD back. Strategically located on an island in the marshland known as Lagos de Cortés, this city grew rapidly but was abandoned around 1200 AD. In 1974 the cities were first explored by Thomas Lee. There have been regular excavations here since 1993. It was not until 2009 that a well-preserved stele was discovered here that depicts the war between this city and a nearby city in the 11th century. AD describes. The facility is open to the public.

Access is via Carretera Federal 190 Comitan - Ciudad Cuauhtemoc / Guatemalan border. To the north (from Comitan in front of) the San Gregorio bridge, a spur road goes east to the Cristobal Colon location. The excavation is just beyond the place.

Pyramid in Lagartero
  • Plaza. There are a total of four pyramids with a height of up to 11 meters. Three of the pyramids are exposed.
