Sabana Piletas is a Mayan ruin in the state Campeche in Mexico.

background

Inscriptions and the Puuc architecture point to a late classical settlement, much more is not yet known. Although the inscriptions found point to armed conflicts with a city in the south, it is not yet clear which it is. In 2007 and 2008 extensive investigations were carried out here, including by INAH and by Nicola Grube from the university Bonn performed with the grand staircase in the foreground, which contains more than 136 hieroglyphs.

The facility is not open to the public (As of Feb. 2019).
