Uxbentun is a Mayan ruins city in Toledo District in Belize.
background
Uxbentun means "old place". So far, this Maya site has not been investigated in detail. It is believed that this city is very closely related Lubaantun was connected. This is indicated by the location and architectural style. Accordingly, the heyday of this city was also in the classical phase between 600 AD and 900 AD.
getting there
This city is close to San Pedro Columbia and can only be reached from there by water. For this you should have a canoe and a guide organized. You can either find it in San Pedro Columbia or via BTB (contact Bruno Kuppinger, Sun Creek Lodge [1] (Tel: (501) 614-2080))
mobility
The facility is not particularly exposed. A guide and the right equipment (long trousers, good shoes and machete) are definitely required to explore.
Tourist Attractions
Clear structures are less noticeable here. Here and there the masonry still protrudes through the overgrowth and leaves a lasting impression.
