Dzibilnocac is a city in Campeche (State) in Mexico.

Translated, the name of the city means something like "Painted Vault". The first traces of settlement date from the 5th century. v. However, due to the architecture, structure is generally assumed to be from the late classical period (i.e. 800 to 1000 AD). In 1841 these ruins were rediscovered by Stephens & Catherwood. A special feature of this 1.5 km² facility is that cisterns have been built here as there is neither a river nor a cenote nearby.

By plane

The best flight connections nearby are in Campeche to find. From here you can continue by bus or car.

In the street

The MEX 261 goes to Hopelchen by car. From here you can turn towards Iturbide. The ruins are about 1 km west of the village of Iturbide.

By bus you can get a second class bus from Campeche take to Iturbide and walk to the complex.

  • Structure 1. The elementary highlight of this system. An 80 meter by 30 meter platform carries three pyramids here. These are essentially still hidden under the ground. But the eastern one has largely been exposed. This is laid out in the Chenes style. Furthermore, some chambers were uncovered here.
