Hochob is a city in Campeche in Mexico.
background
It was probably already here during the pre-classical period around 100 BC. Settled. But it did not blossom until the 9th century. AD, which was then relatively short because the city was abandoned around 1100 AD. In 1887 the city was rediscovered for science by Teobert Maler. Further analyzes of the site followed until excavations and restorations began in 1980.

In the street
Of Campeche drive the MEX 261 in an easterly direction via Xtun and San Antonio Xkix to the village of Hopelchén. Here you leave the MEX 261 in a southerly direction and drive via Xcupil and Komchén to Dzibalchén. There you turn right at the entrance to the village in a south-westerly direction in the direction of travel and after about 8km you reach a small village. Here you have to turn right again in the direction of travel and after another 2 km you reach the ruins of the city.

The center is located on a small 90 meter high hill. Here is a plaza around which various buildings are placed. The architecture is for the most part in the Chenes style and so Hochob is generally considered to be the example of this architectural style. You can see:
- Structure 1. The building has not yet been exposed. Research has shown, however, that this is a pyramid with a small temple.
- Structure 2. This excellently preserved building is located right next to the pyramid and is a prime example of the Chenes architectural style, as the structure of the building can be clearly seen here in three parts, which gives the impression that there are several buildings.
- Structure 3. When Teobert Maler photographed the system, it was still in pretty good condition. But the building has probably suffered the most in the last 100 years, so that only fragments of the snake's mouth can be seen.
- Structure 4. Smaller unspecified structure.
- Structure 5. This is a pyramid with a temple. The stairs are very steep and difficult to climb.
- Structure 6. This pyramid is similar in structure, with the stairs being much easier to climb. Structure 6 is connected to structure 5 by a multi-room building.
