background

Most of the buildings date from the 10th century. AD and are built in the Puuc style. The city was finally abandoned in the middle of the 15th century. AD About 400 years later, Teobert Maler analyzed the systems for the first time for science. But it took another 100 years before the first excavations were started. Incidentally, the name is derived from the nearby village of the same name.
