Plan de Ayutla is a village with a Mayan ruin in Chiapas in Mexico.

The village of Plan de Ayutla eke out an existence unnoticed by the world until the 1970s, when the buildings of an ancient Mayan city were discovered in the immediate vicinity on some hills. Other buildings were discovered that indicated a large city of great importance. In the meantime, there are increasing indications that this is the city "Sak Tz’i’ "with Yaxchilan and Toniná was involved in military conflicts and was ultimately defeated in 787 AD. The city has the architecture common in this area and is reminiscent in places Palenque. However, some buildings are unique in the entire Mayan world. The facility is to be made accessible to the public by 2012.

The nearest international airports are in Villahermosa and Tuxtla Gutiérrez. From here there are connections in the air and on the road to Palenque. From here the road continues.

In the street

The usual arrival is via the Fronteriza highway (MEX 199) from Palenque. After approx. 110 km turn right towards Velasco Suarez. This place is crossed after 10 km. After another 8 km you reach the town of Plan de Ayutla. Since the area around the town is under the administration of the Lacandon Maya, you are not allowed to simply drive into this area. It is best to inquire in Palenque about the best route.
