Chunhuhub is a Maya ruin in the northeast of the state Campeche on the state border Yucatan in Mexico.

This site, whose name means something like "near the snake", was probably built in the 6th century. settled AD. Until the 8th century AD there was evidence of brisk construction activity, which is why this city was in bloom during this period. This city was abandoned around 800 AD and was rediscovered by John Lloyd Stephens. The first pictures were provided by Teobert Maler in 1887. Research, digging and restoration has been carried out here since the early 1980s.
The ruins are located on the border between the states Campeche and Yucatan in the Yucatan. But it is assigned to Campeche by the Mexican antiquities authority.

In the street
Of Campeche take the MEX 261 via Hopelchén to the village of Bolonchén Rejón village. About 7 km behind this place at San Antonio Yaxche, turn left towards the village of Xculoc and after about 5 km you will reach the 1 Ruin site left hand.

One moves across the ruins on foot.
Tourist Attractions
The highlight of the site is the so-called two-part palace, which was restored in 1983. This is a multi-storey building with numerous Puuc-style decorations. Numerous rooms are still very well preserved or restored and accessible.
There are also some very badly crumbled buildings and a platform to visit.

Practical advice
The facility is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Last admission is one hour before closing. Admission is free.
A repellent against mosquitoes is recommended, especially in the summer months.
