Izamal is a city in Yucatan in Mexico.
background
Already in the pre-classical period a village developed here that lasted until colonization. Many buildings from this period can still be seen today. After the independence of Mexico, the place was able to assert its local importance again and again and has had city rights again since 1981. Plus, the place is excellent with the Pueblo Magico.

Churches, mosques, synagogues, temples
- 1 San Antonio de Padua Church, Calle 31-A, Centro, 97540 Izamal. This was built with the largest closed church square in all of Mexico in 1562 on the former Popol Chac pyramid.
- 2 Kinich Kak Moo pyramid. This building has a side length of 200 meters and is over 35 meters high. It was built in the classical period (around 500 AD), but was continuously modified until the post-classical period shortly before the arrival of the Spaniards.
- 3 Pyramid Kabul. From here a sacbe (holy road) leads to Aké.
