Pook’s Hill is a Mayan ruin in Cayo District in Belize
background
This city dates from the Classical period (550 to 950 AD). In the middle of the ruin is the Pook’s Hill Lodge. Research has shown that the entire area around Pook's Hill was surrounded by residential buildings. Commercial contacts with the coast as well as with Tikal and Caracol could be proven.
getting there
If you drive the Western Highway from Belize City to Guatemala, there is a turning south at Mile 52 near the town of Teakettle. Pook's Hill is also shown here. This junction leads to Pook's Hill after 9 km. If you arrive by bus, you can be picked up from the lodge from Teakettle.
