background
The city lived mainly from the trade routes in the vicinity. The upswing probably took place from the 8th century under the influence of Coba. In the period between 700 BC Most of the buildings were erected in AD 1400 and AD 1400. Numerous wall paintings were found in the buildings that show similarities to the Codex Tro-Cortesianus, which is now in the museum in Madrid lies. Extensive excavation work has been carried out here by the Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia (INAH) since 2007.
