Santa Rosa Xtampak is a Maya ruin in the state Campeche in Mexico.

background

It is estimated that the first settlements here go back to the middle pre-classical period (300 BC). But it got interesting in the classical period. In the period between the seventh century and the tenth century, most of the buildings were erected here and all of the information on dates discovered so far. The complex was rediscovered as early as 1841 by Stephens and Catherwood, but these ruins lay out of the way for a long time, so that it was not fully surveyed until 1949 by Harry E. D. Pollock. Excavations have been taking place here since 1990.
