Although this facility is only 25 km from Campeche away you know next to nothing about the city. About 400 structures have been identified over an area of 15 km². Most of them date from the period 600 to 900 AD. Some researchers believe they have found the long sought-after Maya metropolis Ah-Kim-Pech (in German: place of snakes and ticks) with this city. Excavations have been taking place here since 2000. Some two-story palaces and temples with a height of up to 20 meters can be seen here.
