Nohpat is a Mayan ruin in Yucatan in Mexico.
background
Not much is known about the complex. But the size of the complex (almost 5 km²) and the discovery of several palaces, pyramids and a ball playground suggest that this was a very important city. In addition, the city is directly on the Sacbé of Uxmal to Kabahwhich suggests both a high phase in the late classical period and economic and political connections between the two cities.
getting there
By plane
The nearest airport is in Merida. From there it continues on the road.
By train
In the street
From Mérida you drive over Uman onto the MEX 261, which you follow for approx. 90 km in a southerly direction. About 10 km behind Uxmal one reaches the place Santa Elena. This is the closest place to the ruin, which is about 5 km as the crow flies from here and can only be reached via paths through the rainforest. It is currently not open to the public.
