The Baja California or Baja California is one in the northwest Mexico 1,300 km long headland. Starting at Tijuana, the country, which consists mostly of desert, extends over La Paz up to the Los Cabos (Region between the places Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo at the southern tip of the peninsula).

background
Baja California is an impressive desert landscape alternating with lonely oases and the recreational area of the Americans (Los Cabos). Highly recommended for relaxation.
getting there
mobility
Four wheel drive is highly recommended if you want to explore the charms of Baja. Behind Ensenada there is only the asphalt road Highway No. 1 (Mexican Federal Highway 1). If you want to leave it, you should have all-wheel drive and spare tires ready. Highway # 1 from north to south is dangerous. It goes up into the mountains and mostly there are no guard rails. A look down shows many wrecked cars that have strayed from the road. For this reason it is better not to drive at night.
The above may be correct for motorists: I rode the Baja from San Diego to Cabo San Lucas by mountain bike in three weeks. Because of the high risk of not finding any water off the Mex 1 and also because of the difficulty of finding really good off-road maps, I rode the Mex 1 and Mex 19 contrary to my original intention. If you are not stubborn and leave the street when two trucks cross - the street is just barely wide enough for this - no major problems are to be expected. At night, however, I wouldn't drive on these roads either. But I didn't find the road or the traffic on it dangerous.

climate
Most of all, you should make sure that temperature data on the Internet are average values. This fact is of particular importance in Baja, because the west side, facing the Pacific with its cool temperatures, is impressively more pleasant than the east side facing the Gulf of California. Here the water temperature is up to 26 Celsius and it gets damn hot during the day. The east side should therefore not be visited until November. "California" means "hot oven" for a reason.
